Course overview

An access award is an entry-level qualification (level 1) that provides students with introductory knowledge of business, finance and bookkeeping in order to develop their skills before advancing onto higher level AAT qualifications.

This AAT Level 1 Access Award in Bookkeeping course is ideal for those with minimal previous work experience, students wishing to advance their knowledge and career in bookkeeping and progress onto further AAT courses, or self-employed students who wish to aid their own business.

As well as your AAT course materials and tutor support, you can choose to add on your assessments and include the examination fees required to successfully complete your course and gain your AAT qualification.

Entry Requirements

You must be 16 years old in order to enrol onto this course. Good communication, English and Mathematics skills are also recommended.

Assessment

The qualification is assessed through two tutor-marked assessments and then an external end-of-qualification exam. This computer-based assessment is to be sat under controlled conditions at an external examination centre. Your tutor will help you to decide when you are ready to take the assessments.

Booking your assessments

Exams can be included in the cost of this course. If you choose to add your assessments and book through us, they will take place at a centre in either Birmingham or Irthlingborough, near Northampton. When choosing to add your assessments to your booking, it is important to note that we are only able to book your assessments at the specified centres in either Birmingham or Irthlingborough, therefore, you must be prepared to travel to the centre to complete your assessment.

Alternatively, if you don’t add your assessments to your course, you will have to book and pay for these separately.

Course Duration

This course takes approximately 84 hours to complete, 45 of which are proposed guided learning hours. However, you will have up to six months to complete your course, so you are able to study at a pace that suits you.

Study Method

Once you enrol, you will receive all course materials by post and receive full tutor support for six months. Once you have registered with AAT you will also have online access to online resources and additional support materials, including sample assessments.

Qualification

On successful completion of your AAT exams you will receive an AAT Level 1 Access Award in Bookkeeping awarded by The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
