Course overview

This NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) qualification will prepare you to become an early year’s educator or practitioner, which is also known as a nursery nurse.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you can apply for roles as early year’s practitioner and educator roles in an early year’s settings in which you will be working with children aged from birth to five years of age.

The course covers the health and wellbeing of children and their learning, play, and development to prepare them for school. You will also study the legislation, frameworks, and professional practice involved in working in an early year’s setting.

You will also earn 32 UCAS points once you have successfully completed your course which can be used to support your application to study a related higher education degree.

Up to 18 months.

You will be able to work as a fully qualified early years educator/practitioner,or a nursery nurse.

Entry Requirements

You will need a grade 4/C or above in GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths and English. You will also need to have a placement in an early years setting in mainland England with support from a workplace mentor.

Assessment

All units are internally assessed. This course requires an assessment of your practical skills within your working environment. Methods of assessment could include:

  • Direct observation of practice
  • Witness evidence when directed by the sector skills assessment strategy
  • Professional discussion
  • Reflection on own practice in real work situations
  • Written assignments

Your written assignments will be submitted via email to your tutor for marking.

Course duration

You will have 18 months to complete the course. This allows you to work at your own pace. You will also need to complete 350 placement hours, across three age ranges (birth to 1 year 11 months, 2 to 2 years 11 months, and 3 to 5 years).

You will study this course by distance learning, which will enable you to take control of your studies. You can study at your own pace from a place that suits you.
